The landmark Myers building in the bourke Street mall is about to be redeveloped. Reports yesterday showed views of a new large glass dome atop the roof along with many other new modern improvements. Myers has a long history behind it, much of which can be found here at there own site. |

I have shown you the Eureka tower before, but today is the opening of the new SKYDECK 88 and the EDGE. As shown in this picture, the skydeck is your standard viewing area, but the EDGE is a small room which moves in and out of the side of the building. As you go out the glass is opaque before suddenly becoming transparent and shocking you with the fact that you have nothing but 4.5cm of glass between you and the hard pavement so many stories below. I certainly plan to take a visit and promise to show you some shots from the observation deck. The Eureka tower is the largest residential building in the world, and the largest building of any kind in the Southern Hemisphere. This is the Forum Theatre on the corner of Flinders Street and Russell Street, here in the city of Melbourne. I was in here recently for the 'completetion of filming' party for Spike Jonez directed "Where The Wild Things Are", which comes out in October 2008. (Playtone Productions - Tom Hanks' company). The theatre has great decor with interesting features galore. It is curently home to some of the Melbourne Comedy Festival events. More information on the venue can be found here.
