A foggy day looking from Brighton towards the City of Melbourne

Another shot from Balnarring beach today, to follow up on yesterdays photo of a racehorse taking a swim. This is the small pier on Balnarring Beach, which is on the Mornington Peninsula about 90 minutes out of the main city of Melbourne. I shot this at dusk, the skies were actually quite dark, which enabled a longer than normal exposure time.

Not far from the ‘field of yellow’ I spotted this house completely covered in corrugated iron. I love all the shapes and colours of the differently aged iron. Near Monegetta, north of Sunbury.

Two new arches at the Montague Street/Westgate Freeway intersection in Port Melbourne. Many roadworks have been undertaken in the area recently with new on and off ramps being opened recently, and more to come. You can see South and Port Melbourne behind the arches, and Williamstown and Newport are at the top of the picture on the other side of the water.

A second shot of the wonderful view from the new Hilton Hotel, South Wharf, Melbourne. See details on yesterdays post. This one, taken during the night, shows the Crown casino fire show in the distance, down the Yarra river.

The wonderful view from the new Hilton Hotel, South Wharf, Melbourne. This was taken from one of the ‘city view rooms’ on the 13th floor, (it goes even higher). Some rooms on the opposite side of the hotel look toward the bay and the Westgate Bridge. We didn’t get sick of this view, in fact it changed a lot over the 24 hours we were there. This shot was taken early evening, I may show another shot tomorrow taken at night.

Record breaking day in melbourne today with the highest temperature ever since records began. 46.4 degrees celsius is approximately 115.5 degrees fahrenheit. Cities like London are at a standstill due to cold weather extremes including snow, whilst we have fires throughout the state, smoke and dust everywhere, and strong winds just to top it all off. This after a long period of drought conditions within Victoria have created much havoc. Many homes have been lost, towns evacuated and people have lost their lives. Thank goodness a change is due within a couple of hours. This photo was taken from Williamstown towards the city during the worst of the heat at about 3:30pm this afternoon.
