Quick painting on plywood I did this morning. It is based on a photo you can see on this page. It is of a fishing boat in the bay of Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia. (Three hours down the great Ocean Road from Melbourne.)
Twenty two shots from around Warrnambool bay, Stingray bay, Lady bay, Thunder point, Warrnambool breakwater and surrounding beach area.
The water is so clear and colourful down that way. Warrnambool is around 3 hours out of Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road. Click here to see all 22 photos on one page. Photos include Continue Reading →

Close up of new growth on a young Frangipani tree. They have beautiful delicate flowers which smell terrific. Being in Melbourne it is a struggle to keep them looking good, but many people do well, although Queenslanders have a far better time of it.

These tiny thin flowers were found in a greenhouse section at the Cranbourne Boatnical Gardens. I’m afraid I don’t know the type of plant, but each flower head here was only about 5cm high at this point. They remind me of someone trying to create a shadow puppet of a dog with their hand!

Sunset over lake Mokoan, near Wangaratta, three hours north of Melbourne. This lake and many others are particularly dry at the moment, and tight water restrictions are in force.

Beautiful white seaweed washed up on the beach in Phillip Island. It would go well with this red seaweed.

I love how nature rejuvenates itself after a fire or other such catastrophe. I particularly love the bright green colours of new growth against the harsh charcoal colours of the tree trunks.

Threatened with extinction, these hooded plovers are found on the beach in Anglesea, Victoria. There are apparently only about 600 left within Victoria. You can see the Split Point Lighthouse off in the distance.
