Go Karts

Over Summer I went to Phillip Island, two hours South-East of Melbourne. The Phillip Island Motogp is run there each yaer in November. Adjacent to the circuit is a replica (one fifth the size of the real one) where you can race go karts. We had a ball over our twenty minutes, using one single kart and one tandem kart for two people. Pyramid Rock

On the opposite side of Phillip island to Cat bay is Pyramid Rock. You will need to venture down a dirt road, but at the end is a walk which takes you here, Pyramid Rock. Each year in late December in the adjacent fields, the ‘Pyramid Rock Festival‘ is held. Find details about the festival and who is playing here.

The Poppet Head Lookout (observation tower) can be found at the top of Rosalind Park in Bendigo and gives you a lovely wide view of the city.

Queen Elizabeth Stadium

The lovely stadium at the Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo. The stadium is heritage listed. You can find information about it’s listing here at the Heritage Victoria website. It is found at 88 View Street, Bendigo. Building of the stadium started in 1901 (roughly the same year as my house in Williamstown).

Bendigo Gas works

The old Bendigo Gas Works. These operated from 1860 to 1973, but still remain in the centre of Bendigo, two hours north of Melbourne. The works closed down when natural gas took over from coal gas.
