Various shots of the Auction Rooms Cafe in North Melbourne. (103-107 Errol Street). These shots were all taken by my daughter.
The interiors of the cafe are rustic or industrial with just a little touch of shabby chic. There are wonderful syphons for the coffee/tea as you can see in the photos.
Aami park stadium shot at night. The Burnley tunnel is in the foreground.

The fantastically interesting Chapel Street Bazaar. I remember it from when it was around the corner in Greville Street. Great collectibles, nic-nacs, jewellery, antique furniture and much much more. This photo came third in the ‘What I love about Stonnington’ competition. It has been printed on postcards and distributed around the city. HDR

Adam Elliot created the character of Havey Krumpet and in 2003 won an oscar for the short movie which he directed, wrote and animated. The movie is narrated by Geoffrey Rush (Captain Barbosa from “Pirates of the Caribbean”). In fine form, Adam has left Harvie together with Oscar for all to see in the foyer of ACMI (Australian Centre for the moving image). I have shown the cafe from ACMI before here. ACMI is located at the back of Federation Square.

Over Summer I went to Phillip Island, two hours South-East of Melbourne. The Phillip Island Motogp is run there each yaer in November. Adjacent to the circuit is a replica (one fifth the size of the real one) where you can race go karts. We had a ball over our twenty minutes, using one single kart and one tandem kart for two people. Full details can be found here.

The wonderful view from the new Hilton Hotel, South Wharf, Melbourne. This was taken from one of the ‘city view rooms’ on the 13th floor, (it goes even higher). Some rooms on the opposite side of the hotel look toward the bay and the Westgate Bridge. We didn’t get sick of this view, in fact it changed a lot over the 24 hours we were there. This shot was taken early evening, I may show another shot tomorrow taken at night.

The JBWere Australian Masters finished yesterday at the Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne. Won by Tiger Woods who, on top of his prize money, was apparently paid $3 miliion to attend the event. The crowds were great, the atmosphere was great and all had a good time. It was fun to watch the dust storm following the crowd that chose to follow Tiger around each hole. I shot this as he tapped in for a par on the par 3 eigth hole.

Last night I was lucky enough to see the mens singles final of the Kia Australian Open at Rod Laver arena, after winning a double pass. In what has been described as the best final at the arena, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal fought a very close match over five sets. Nadal finally won after beaking Federer twice in the last set. The final score was 7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2. Federer was aiming to equal the Pete Sampras record of 14 grand Slam wins and became very emotional after the match. More photos from the match over the next few days. Nadal remains world number one.
