"There's one in all of us" Wednesday 2nd December 2009 |
|
|
Finally as I reported last week, the time has come in Australia to see the new movie "Where the wild things are", directed by Spike Jonze. I saw the preview on Sunday and was totally immersed in it's fantasy. At the cinema make sure you stick your head through one of these cardboard cut-outs and take a pic. This is my son, who as I said was one of the picture doubles for Max in the movie, so seeing his face here in the wolf costume was not out of the ordinary for me. He spent three months back in 2006 wearing the costume on set. The character of Max is played by Max Records from America. The movie is based on the famous childrens book by Maurice Sendak. It opens tomorrow, I look forward to seeing it again in gold class. |

"The Crowd" Saturday 21st November 2009 |
"JBWere Australian Masters" Monday 16th November 2009 |
"Circus Oz 2009" Friday 3rd July 2009 |
Well I've shown the players all week from the last day of the JBWere Australian Masters, now it's time for the important people - The crowd. Record crowds visited the event over the four days last week and the masters has been hailed as a big success. (Oh, and that's Tiger Woods in the centre of the shot!) |
The JBWere Australian Masters finished yesterday at the Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne. Won by Tiger Woods who, on top of his prize money, was apparently paid $3 miliion to attend the event. The crowds were great, the atmosphere was great and all had a good time. It was fun to watch the dust storm following the crowd that chose to follow Tiger around each hole. I shot this as he tapped in for a par on the par 3 eigth hole. |
The Circus Oz tent is currently set up at Birrarung Marr parklands for their 2009 show, "Barely Contained". I saw the show on Wednesday and enjoyed it immensely. Good job guys! Details on the show can be found here. You have until just the end of next week to see the show before they take it elsewhere. |

"Federer Serves" Tuesday 3rd February 2008 |
"Australian Open" Monday 2nd February 2009 |
"Great Duck Race" Australia Day, Monday 26th January 2009 |
|
Last night I was lucky enough to see the mens singles final of the Kia Australian Open at Rod Laver arena, after winning a double pass. In what has been described as the best final at the arena, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal fought a very close match over five sets. Nadal finally won after beaking Federer twice in the last set. The final score was 7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2. Federer was aiming to equal the Pete Sampras record of 14 grand Slam wins and became very emotional after the match. More photos from the match over the next few days. Nadal remains world number one. |
The annual 'Great Duck Race" on the Yarra River today. $5 get's an adopted duck, all funds go to lifesaving, Victoria. My children adopted a duck and watched hopefully that they may win the Mitsubishi Lancer that the first duck across the line rewarded you with. At least they did a PB. Details on Australia Day activities can be found here. In the boat you can see former Australian swimmer, now sports broadcaster, Grant Hackett, and also Tony Jones from Channel 9. |
