Great Petition HDR (2)

Reverse angle of this mornings post: Sculpture at the top end of the city (Macarthur Street) taken this morning in HDR. It is entitled “Great Petition” and is by artists Susan Hewitt & Penelope Lee (2008). The plaques states: “Referencing the Monster Petition of 1891, this artwork celebrates the individual and collective efforts of Victorian women and their fortitude in claiming the right to vote. It is a permanent acknowledgement of those who united to bring about change.” Commissioned by the Victorian Government in collaboration with the city of Melbourne. You can also see St Patrick’s Cathedral in the background.
